Is That a Camera?

First of all it is 10 Megapixel, big deal? How about a 10 Megapixel multimedia phone, bigger deal. Look at the size of that lense. I hope it doesn't look weird when it is accidentally activated in my pocket. That is if my pocket is deep enough to get one since this baby will sell around 900,000 won (US$937). Wow look at the amount of zero the koreans have to fork out. I wonder when will the digital SLR smartphone be coming out??

The Departed

Remember the Infernal Affairs Trilogy? This excellent film by Andrew Lau and Alan Mak grossed multiple awards in the Chinese and Hong Kong film making industry, rippled through the Asian box office and also featured top notch actors like Andy Lau, Tony Leung, Eric Tsang, Anthony Wong, Leon Lai, Chapman To and many more.
Right now Hollywood will be remaking this amazing undercover triad saga under the influential mind of film maker Martin Scorsese. Titled the Departed, the plot itself is already awesome.
From IMDB:
"Two men from opposite sides of the law are undercover within the Boston State Police department and the Irish mafia, but violence and bloodshed boil when discoveries are made, and the moles are dispatched to find out their enemy's identities."
On top of that storyline, it stars a slew of big names including Leonardo DiCaprio, Matt Damon, Jack Nicholson, Mark Wahlberg and Martin Sheen. Will it live up to Asian success? We will see on October 6 2006.

Yes yes it the Windows Vista RC 1 (Release Candidate 1) and its FREE. Do not rejoice yet fellow freeloaders, this version will on last you till June 07.

XBOX 360 Modded !!!

Its here at last!!!....The first mod for Microsoft's XBox 360. Now you can play those backups for your precious original games.

NME-360 - the clever solution: The NME-360 autodetects the inserted media. If the inserted media is a backup NME-360 injects the necessary information to the DVD drive enabling it to boot smoothly ahead! If the media is an original game, or anything else, which doesnt require any further action of the NME-360 then it simply falls asleep so there is no need for an external switch whatsoever. This way it can not be detected online when you play an original onlinegame.

Download of the Day: Widgets

Widgets are mini apps that are designed to run on your desktop displaying self updating information to complement your display's work space. Eversince the frustrating days of Microsoft' s Active Desktop in 1997 to bring the revolution of internet to Windows, much have changed with the emergence of apps like Konfabulator and Apple's Dashboard Widgets, bringing the use of widgets to mainstream.

Most widgets are useful day to day tools designed with emphasis for office use such as calendar, clocks, weather bar, search tools and the list goes on. Most of these can be obtained for free and among them are Desktop Sidebar, Kapsules, Opera Widgets, Google Desktop Sidebar, Yahoo Widget Engine 3. Even if you feel limited by the numerous choices offered, you can try your hand in coding your own panels with programs like Google Desktop Sidebar which offer a downloadable SDK to suite your needs.

I am only going to touch briefly on the two biggests online brands leaving the rest for all you tech savvy people to test and come up with you own conclusions. To begin with , we go take a look at the Google camp. Weighing in at 157 downloadable panels (not all are free), the range is broad: Adsense status indicators, hard disk life predictors, file backup utilities and games. Only downside is Google Desktop Sidebar is part of the Google Desktop Search application and, while it can be toggled off,you cannot download it as a standalone application. However, default choices are good, with the Google based widgets a particular highlight -one for Google Maps and another that takes RSS and Atom feeds and shows the full story in its Details pane.

Next we have the Yahoo camp, introducing the new kid on the block, Yahoo Widget Engine 3, originating from the JavaScript runtime of the Mac, weighing in with 2407 widgets (Windows and Mac) to choose from, thanks to the ancestral bloodline of the Konfabulator community. No other widget engine come close to the feature available: IP subnet calculators, streaming radio stations, i Tunes control, Web page text scrapers, Wi-fi hotspot finders and so on. The best part, it is the most stable and least system resource intensive of all the apps. Couple this with goodlooks of the widgets and Konfabulator (grandaddy of of all widget apps) under its skin, the only direction Yahoo Widget Engine 3 will be going is right.

No no ..not major breakthrough in gamma ray research but through the brainchild of Stan Lee (left) world-famous comic-book (Spider-man, the Fantastic Four, the Hulk, Daredevil and the X-Men to name a few) and motion-picture icon (dominated the comic-book genre and have been successfully to the big screen, breaking all-time box-office records and grossing billions of dollars in revenues), founded POW! (Purveyors of Wonder) Entertainment Inc. (POWN.PK), an advanced media and entertainment company, together with award-winning producer Gill Champion and intellectual-property specialist Arthur Lieberman, Esq.

From thousands of hopefuls, Stan Lee chooses the lucky finalists who move together into a secret lair. There they will begin their transformations — and their competition for the opportunity to become real-life superheroes. Over the course of the series, they will test their mettle, try to overcome their limitations, and do what it takes to prove that they truly are super. Go ahead and shed a tear, everyone's favorite gaming industry showcase is dead.
E3 or, as your mom might call it, The Electronic Entertainment Expo, is kaput. No more. Deaded. This is an ex-E3.
All of the majors simultaneously pulled out their support of the expo saying that their millions of dollars in promotion would be better spent in a more concentrated effort directed towards the media. Yikes. No more free swag. No more bright lights. No more nerd smell.

Police interview 27 witnesses over chemical spraying incident

KOTA BARU: Police have interviewed 27 witnesses over the spraying of chemicals on former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad here as of noon today.

Kelantan chief police SAC 1 Datuk Zulkifli Abdullah said they have interviewed the witnesses, “but it's too early to conclude the motive behind the spraying.”

He said the suspect, a 53-year-old Datuk who is also a local businessman, would be remanded at the magistrate court later today.

On Friday, the suspect was believed to have sprayed chemical from a canister in the direction of Dr Mahathir when he arrived at the Sultan Ismail Petra airport in Pengkalan Chepa for a one-day visit. Police detained the suspect last night, almost 12 hours after the incident at 11am yesterday.

In the incident, Dr Mahathir, who was surrounded by hundreds of supporters, was standing inside a Pajero and addressing the crowd through the open sunroof of the vehicle when the suspect sprayed the chemical.

The spray caused Dr Mahathir to suffer nausea and a stinging sensation in his eyes. Dr Mahathir, however, recovered after a brief rest at a hotel and resumed his schedule for the day.

Dr Mahathir sprayed with chemical irritant, attacker identified

Update by The Star Newsdesk

KOTA BARU: A man sprayed a chemical irritant in the direction of Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad moments after the former Prime Minister arrived at the airport here Friday morning.

In Putrajaya, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi said he was angry over the incident and ordered the police to conduct an immediate investigation and to take stern action against those responsible for the act.

According to police, former Umno strongman Datuk Ibrahim Ali took the brunt of the spray on his face while Dr Mahathir and his bodyguard were also affected.

The 11am (0300GMT) incident took place just as Dr Mahathir was entering a 4WD vehicle together with Ibrahim.

Dr Mahathir, who was seen taking off his glasses and wiping his eyes, was rushed from the vehicle by his other security personnel to a car nearby, which then drove away.

Deputy Inspector General of Police Tan Sri Musa Hassan told The Star that his officers have identified the man who sprayed the irritant and expect to make an arrest soon.

Musa said the police were investigating the incident under Section 328 of the Penal Code.

The section reads: "Whoever administer to or causes to be taken by any person any poison or any stupefying intoxication or unwholesome drug or other things with intent to cause hurt to such person or with intent to commit or facilitate the commission of an offence or knowing it to be likely that he will thereby cause hurt shall be punished with imprisonment for a term which may extend to 10 years and shall also liable to fine"

Later at a press conference, Dr Mahathir described the attack as an attempt to stop him from speaking out.

Describing how he felt, Dr Mahathir said: “It felt something like a sore throat, my eyes were stinging, I could not see clearly and removed my glasses.”

The former premier said he would continue with his scheduled talks Friday.
Dr Mahathir was on a one-day visit to Kelantan and was scheduled to attend a dialogue and dinner organised by the Kelantan People’s Action Council headed by Datuk Paduka Ibrahim Ali.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi said he was angry over the incident and ordered the police to conduct an immediate investigation and to take stern action against those responsible for the act.

"I regret and am very angry such an incident has happened," he said, adding that those responsible for the incident should be severely punished.

He said the matter should be immediately resolved to avoid negative implications and misconception among the public.

The Prime Minister also feared that certain quarters would take advantage of the incident by disseminating rumours, especially through the Internet.

PM: Stop debate on religious issues

KUALA LUMPUR: “Do not force the Government to take action” – that is the stern warning from the Prime Minister to those who cause tension in the society by organising activities on religious issues.
Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi said he had earlier issued a statement that such activities should be stopped immediately so that everybody would understand that if they continued to play up religious issues, it could lead to an uneasy situation.
The Cabinet, he said, had on Wednesday issued a directive to everyone, including the media, to avoid religious issues that could create tension.
“We have discussed this matter and the Cabinet made the decision as I have announced, so that the Government will not be forced to take action,” he said.
Asked whether the Government has any plans to use the Internal Security Act against those who continued with such activities, he said: “So far, I don't want to rush to talk about this matter (ISA). These people should know what is expected of them.”
On whether he would meet with the Article 11, the umbrella body of 13 non-governmental organisations, Abdullah said: “I will have to find an appropriate time.”
After the Umno supreme council meeting on Tuesday, Abdullah had asked that the Article 11 group immediately stop activities related to interfaith issues as it was deemed to cause tension among the multi-religious community.
On Saturday, Article 11 had held a forum to discuss constitutional issues pertaining to fundamental rights of Malaysians in Johor Baru. Article 11 in the Federal Constitution refers to the freedom of religion
